EPW - Rolex, Swiss, "Observatory Quality Class A Certificate" marked mvt, 48mm (16S for North American market), 14K gold OF recase with initials to rear shield, gold cuvette, "Rolex Chronometer Control Officiellement" marked white enamel DS impressed dial with 13 to 24 hour numerals at perimeter, SW-SS, fully capped lever escapement, 21J, wheel satin nickel finish, cal. 550, s#711. Gross weight of assembled watch 50.5 dwt (78.6 g).
CONDITION:
Mvt: Ticking somewhat sluggishly, winding mechanism occasionally skipping out of engagement, overhaul recommended, small numeric code scribed to plate surface below "Cal 550" marking, otherwise fine cosmetic mvt condition overall, plates with some haze and scattered fine to micro-fine scratches, some oxide spots to larger winding wheel, missing regulator spring and regulator adjustment elements; dial with large patched chip at 4 taking out majority of this numeral, scattered hls, small nicks around rim of seconds-register hole; excellent hands; case shows medium wear, dent to band at 3:30 and additional lesser scattered dents and dings elsewhere to band, mild ding to lower rear more evident to inner surface of case, reduced engine turning and engraving detail with full loss to high majority of engine turning; tight bow, brass crown shows ample wear; good glass crystal with some glue excess at its seat.
